VLSI being a niche field, I believe not all aspiring for it, get into it. It requires a little extra effort for a student of ECE/EEE to get into this field compared to other fields as there is a large gap between academics and the industry. Below are few experiences shared by the people who are into this field on how they entered into this world.
"I did my BE in ECE. I always wished to enter into VLSI field right from the days when I had VLSI as a subject in Engineering 3rd year. Decided to do a course after finishing Engineering but it's fee was huge; ~1lac. Worked as a lecturer in Engineering colleges for 2 years to have some money. Finally chose TIIT, Hyerabad for a course in backend designing which was also a certified course from University of California, USA and in collaboration with Cadence Design Systems. I was hired by TTM, the R&D for TIIT.".......Mahboob (Currently working as Physical Design Consultant at AMD, Hyderabad)
